Sker Beach Photos

The following is taken from the excellent Bridgend CBC website:

Sker beach

This is the most westerly beach and is only accessible by walking from Rest Bay or Kenfig National Nature Reserve.

Best Features: Mostly sandy and flat and mostly used by locals, making it one of the quieter beaches in Porthcawl

Lifeguard cover? Volunteer lifeguards patrol at certain times, but remember No Flag, No Patrol

Local Facilities and shops: No facilities and shop

Great for kids? No facilities for children

How far are the toilets? The closest toilets are a 40 minute walk away at Rest Bay or at the Kenfig nature reserve

Parking: There are no close car parks as access to the beach is by foot. The nearest car park is at Rest Bay or at the Kenfig Nature Reserve

Public Transport: Not easily reached by public transport Bus services to Porthcawl provided by First Bus. Various direct services run from Bridgend, Cardiff and Swansea

How about pets? Dogs are allowed on the beach, but please collect and dispose of your dog’s waste

Other points of interest: Very good for walking

Fancy that! At low tide you can see a plaque which is in memory of all the lives lost on the S.S. Santampa and the Mumbles Life Boat. At very low tides wreckage is still being found

Where is it? A 20 minute-walk from Rest Bay alongside the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club

And enjoy some more great photos!
