Glamorganshire Canal, Radyr

One of my favourite outings is when Daddy takes me down to Forest Farm, near Cardiff. If you’re driving your doggie there just take the A470 south from the valleys and take the ‘Asda’ turn-off on the big roundabout. When you get to the supermarket turning and petrol station just keep going until you get to the dead end at the bottom. Park the car and off you go!

There is a whole maze of trails down there, perfect for chasing squirrels in the autumn and a canal for swimming in, although apparently you’re not supposed to chase or eat the ducks. Oops. I wasn’t paying attention so didn’t read that sign.

There are hides where you can see kingfishers, lots of walkways, loops and forest. You can also visit the Forest Farm or go to see the salmon jumping at the weir on the River Taff. More than enough for a good few hours walkies anyway!
